Love

I've often taken aim
my feelings to proclaim.
Exquisitely I try to write
But results are simple and trite.
I want not your contempt
So I refuse to attempt
beautiful poetic form
that fails to adequately inform.
Many with talent and wit
have artfully displayed true spirit.
The masters can best address
what I sincerely want to express.

Love is a smoke raised with the fume of sighs,
Being purged, a fire sparkling in lovers' eyes,
Being vexed, a sea nourished with lovers' tears.
What is it else? A madness most discreet,
A choking gall and a preserving sweet.
-- William Shakespeare

"There is only one happiness in life - to love and be loved."
George Sand

"Smiles, tears, of all my life - and if God choose, I shall but love thee better after death."
Elizabeth Barrett Browning

"When you are in love you can't fall asleep because reality is better than your dreams."
Dr. Seuss
